The world of ebay selling can be daunting to the uninitiated. But in this article I am going to quickly walk through an optimized process for selling that will get the most sales. I am going to write a more in depth "research and study" report on my blog by next week(feb 20th, 2011) pointing out all the steps in greater detail. The link to my site is here, and is associated with
small scale business ideas for those wishing to break out of the 9 to 5 and become entrepreneurs (even if its just on the side at first).
First, figure out a product you want to sell and make sure it WILL sell (that its desirable) and at what price. Nothing fancy about this other than searching through eBay for a long while, making not of similar products and their performance, prices, etc. The more notes the better for this and all the other steps.
Next, make your verified "goodly determined" product pop. By this I mean make it stand out far more than the competitors who sell the same things. A GREAT set of pictures must be in place. A price that is a tad bit lower than the competition. And lastly, write about every aspect of the product in a personable, transparent way. If its used and a bit scuffed, be honest. But mainly were talking about selling new items that you have a large quantity of.
[Excerpt: if you want to set up a store, do so by all means. But if your new to ebay, then maybe wait a bit and test your items performance before going all the way.]
Next, if you have an item like clothing that sells in different colors and sized or any sort of options, this can be perfectly accomodated! Just choose the options for such things when you see them. (I will be creating a walk through large post by next week on such things). Also, make sure to list the item in the right applicable categories, and ad the item to UK eBay, give shipping perks (discounted as much as possible) as well as any sort of buyer satisfaction guarantee that you can provide. This section could be expanded A LOT, you'll just have to wait till my post! There is much to be done that saves you the headaches I had to go through in learning how to gain sales :)
Lastly, hook up paypal and shipping methods with eBay so that you can print shipping labels. Its an extremely simple process. Once implemented, you can print the labels: I always ship usps, its way cheaper. if you have items that are less than 16 ounces and smaller than a large book, then always (in US destinations) ship out via first class package. Order 100 bubble mailers from uline (extremely cheap) and slap those shipping labels on them whenever someone orders. They can be picked up by the postman. If you have larger items, then ship via the usps medium flat rate box, which costs 10 dollars a shipment to you customers. No weight limitation, just fit it in there! These boxes can be order for FREE via usps.
